BOTOX®
Botulinic
toxin is a pharmaceutical product that has been used in neurological,
traumatological and ophthalmologic treatments with great success for more than 10
years. In the last years of the ‘90s it started to be used for aesthetical
purposes.
BOTOX®
Cosmetic received FDA approval in 2002 for the temporary treatment of moderate
to severe frown lines between the brows in people 18 to 65 years of age. BOTOX®
Cosmetic is administered by physicians and is available only by prescription.
Its use in Aesthetics
Treatment with botulinic toxin is carried out on the ‘dynamic’ or
‘expression’ wrinkles of the face by relaxing the facial muscles that form
this type of wrinkle.
What
is the treatment like?

is a non-surgical treatment, quick and safe.

do not need to take an allergy test.

| It
consists of microinjections in the area to be treated, the application of
which does not take more than 15 minutes. Before the application an
anesthetic cream is applied.

It does not generally need any. For deep peeling (phenol) strong sedation is
usually applied.

can be performed without any hospitalization. For
deep peeling, 1 or 2 days hospitalization should be needed.
